January 2004 Newsletter

Words from the East......

The communication on December 8th was, in my opinion, one of the best of the year. The food was outstanding, the participation was good, and the fellowship was in the spirit of the season.

We assigned 18 fruit baskets for delivery to the widows. A special "thank you" to Worshipful Brother Roy Harris for being in charge of this project and to all of you who agreed to deliver one or more baskets.

The lodge was opened and business transacted. Brother Secretary John announced that over $7,000 in checks were being sent to the two charities as a result of our fundraising during the year. This reflects almost a $2000 increase over the previous year. Once again, I say a big "Thank You" to all who were instrumental in helping to raise money this year.

A total of 25 brothers were in attendance and helped elect our 2004 officers who are:

MASTER: Greg Ray

SENIOR WARDEN: Ken Hartman

JUNIOR WARDEN: Jim Talaska

TREASURER: Myron Staton

SECRETARY: John Tawney.

My personal congratulations are extended to each of these brethren with best wishes for a great year. I called an emergent communication for Saturday, January 10th, 3:00 P.M. for the purpose of installing officers. At the Master Elect's request, this will be an open installation.

It was also reported that we will probably have a second degree on January 12th, immediately following our two candidates returning their first degree catechism.

I am proud and humbled to now be officially referred to as a Past Master of the finest Lodge in the state of North Carolina. I am even prouder of the fact that I leave Garner 701 in good hands. Having said all that "I'm outta here".

FRATERNALLY,

RONNIE WILLIAMS

Master Garner 701 2003
