October News Letter Garner Lodge 701

Brethren,

Our first meeting of September included a very interesting show and tell Masonic education presentation directed by Worshipful Brother Jimmy Stevens who asked us to bring something of interest related to Masonry to discuss.  Most of the brethren brought something that either had sentimental value, intrinsic value, and a story worth sharing or all of the above. We all enjoyed seeing the items that had been collected over the years and as I looked at the items and listened to the stories I began to realize that the most valuable treasures are the people who continue to serve our lodge and Masonry and how thankful for them we should be.

We have had some very interesting Masonic education this year Thanks to Brother Jimmy so if you have something you would like to share, a subject you would like to present or something you would like to know more about let’s include it, Initiation should only be the beginning!

There has been some discussion about starting a library at the lodge for us all to use, if you have any thoughts or items to contribute let us know.

Please don’t forget about Grand Lodge on September 24th and 25th and if you want to ride I plan to drive both days.

A few of our Brothers have some health concerns so please remember them in your prayers as well.

The Eastern Star will be having a yard sale on October 2nd at the lodge. Please contact them if you have anything to donate or bring it by the lodge, they will be getting things together in the dining room until then.

Unfortunately, our FUNSHOOT - Fundraiser was rained out by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan. Lets keep the victims of this terrible storm.

Schools of Instruction, Thursday, Oct 21st at Charles B. Newcomb 740 7:30 PM, & Monday Oct 25th at Garner 701 7:30, Please make every effort to be there.  These are regular meeting nights for both Lodges, and the School will follow after the business of the Lodge.

Fraternally
