December 2002 Newsletter
Brethren,
Tidings from the East. We had our last stated communication on November 11th. We enjoyed a terrific meal of homemade chili with cheese, onions, cornbread, and delicious chocolate cake with ice cream. Many thanks to the chef’s crew.
At our next stated communication to be held on November 25th, we will have a third degree. Everyone should plan to be present.
I would like to remind everyone to please attend our next meal and meeting to be held on December 9th at 6:00 p.m. This will be our Christmas meal and Widow’s meal and we’ll be having black angus roast. Please come and enjoy the food and fellowship.
I would like to thank my line officers for participating in our Step Up Night at our last meeting. You all did a fantastic job and I’m very proud to have you as my officers. We will be voting for new officers at our first meeting in December and I encourage everyone to be present.
I would like to extend a special request for volunteers to help with our kitchen duties for next year. With two of our chef’s crew being rising officers with more demanding roles in our lodge, we will need several people to step up to the challenge.
I would like to announce that the downstairs will be in use for a reception following the Town of Garner Christmas Tree lighting on December 5, 2002. Please attend if you can.
We made a gallant effort to capture the traveling gavel from Vandora Lodge on Thursday, November 7th but to no avail. Since we had 8 members present and so did Master’s, the gavel was awarded to the lodge who traveled the farthest distance. Congratulations to Master’s Lodge.
In closing, I’d like to say, “Thank you for all your support and fellowship. It is all of you who are making my year as Master so successful. Keep up the good work!”
Fraternally,
Ricky Marcom
Master
Garner Lodge 701
