Masonic News from Garner Lodge No. 701

February 2002 Newsletter

 

Brethren,

 

Tidings from the East.  We had a wonderful turnout at our meal and stated communication on Monday night, January 14th  at Garner 701.  As usual, the chef’s crew provided a fantastic meal.  I would like to thank Brother Greg Ray and his degree team for an outstanding job presenting the second degree.

 

On the morning of January 12th, incoming officers met at the lodge for breakfast and afterwards held a practice and discussed the upcoming year. 

 

On January 12th, we held our installation of officers and the following officers were installed for 2002:

           

            Master                        Ricky Marcom

            Senior Warden             Ronnie Williams

            Junior Warden              Greg Ray

            Secretary                      John Tawney

            Treasurer                      Myron Staton

            Senior Deacon              Ken Hartman

            Junior Deacon              Jim Talaska

            Chaplain                       Bill Tapp

            Tyler                            Jim Setzer

 

Installing officers were Delmas Williams as Installing Officer and Roy Harris as Installing Marshall.  I would like to extend a special thanks to Brother Jim Talaska and his wife Kathy for all their hard work in the preparation of the reception for the installation, and also the breakfast that morning.

 

We will be having a special Valentine’s Day Meal of Steak & Lobster with a special dessert on February 11th at 6:30 p.m.  Please plan to bring the special loved ones in your life.  Charge for the dinner is $10.00 per person.  Please R.S.V.P. by February 4, 2002.  All proceeds go to the Masonic Charities.

 

It was decided at our last meeting that our Auction for this year will be held on September 14th.  Time and place will be determined at a later date.

 

There will be a calendar placed downstairs in the kitchen for upcoming events and scheduling.  Should you need to reserve the lodge for any dates, please check the calendar and then call me for approval.

 

In closing, I’d like to say, “Thank you to all the lodge members who have supported me in my election.  I’m looking forward to the coming year and will need everyone’s wisdom and knowledge to make this another great working year for Garner Lodge 701.”
