Words from the East......
Holiday Greetings and Best Wishes from
the East. My year is all but over, and as I reflect back over the past twelve
months, I have fond memories of the things that we have accomplished. Let me
first say "thank you" to our Lord above for permitting us to do these
things in a free country which still has "in God we trust" on our
money. We can still assemble at our Lodge Hall and do the business of
freemasonry and express a belief in a supreme being. As you gather this Holiday
season with family and friends, please try to remember that we are celebrating
the birth of a son that was given as a gift, that we may have the opportunity
of eternal life.
As I began the year I made a list of
"things to do". Foremost was raising money for the charities, and
perhaps, to try to raise more than has ever been raised in a year. I don't know
that we set a new record, but I do know that we have had a good year with
approximately $7,000 raised. To all of those who stepped up and accepted this
challenge. I say "Thank You". February gave us a successful Valentine
Dinner fundraiser. April produced a first time successful Golf Tournament. July
gave us a successful fundraiser at the Town's Independence Day celebration. The
September Auction added more money, and throughout the year, the "Kans for
Kids" was a good effort. The annual letter fundraiser to out of town
members also added money. Number two on my list was to increase public
awareness.
We stepped up our visibility in the community
by sponsoring a little league team, being a part of the "downtown
festival", and distributing candy at the town's annual Halloween event.
The golf shirts with lodge logo were ordered by more than 20 members, and
are being worn regularly.
Other things that were accomplished were [1] a
new lodge membership directory [2]the "Kans for Kids" project[3]a
$225 contribution to the American Cancer Society[4]the addition of two new
fundraisers: the golf tournament and the Independence Day event, and last, but
not least, the BEGINNING of a process to equip the downstairs with heat and air
conditioning. Hopefully, this will get completed SOON.
The November 10th meeting was "move
up" night and also voting night on two life memberships. Two entered
apprentices were initiated. Brother Randy Williams and his degree team did a
good job. The two new life members are Harry Pitts and Bill Picket. Both are
very deserving.
Remember the Widows' night and stated
communication on December 8th beginning at 6:00 PM. This is also election
night. The evening will begin with a "cooked on site" barbecue dinner
with fixins'.
I close by thanking all of you again for
allowing me to be Master. It has been a very humbling and rewarding experience.
Best Wishes for a blessed holiday season, peace and goodwill to all of you.FRATERNALLY,RONNIE
