Words
from the East.....
The May 26th meeting was well attended. After
opening and conducting business. Brother Jim Lee was examined by Brother Barry
Tucker for his proficiency on the 3rd degree. His examination was ruled
satisfactory and he was presented his proficiency card and his copy of the
code. Congratulations, Brother Jim!
Brother Randy Williams was presented a
"Master's Award" for his work on the chef's crew and for organizing
our "Kans for Kids" drop off. Please remember to bring your aluminum
cans to the lodge. Even if you have a monthly "pick up", we still
encourage you to bring them , so the charities will benefit.
Brother Ken Hartman gave a presentation
n of Dr. Eddie Stiles' "What is Freemasonry?". He gave this
talk in 1980 to a Raleigh Lion's Club luncheon. The contents were to help us
all answer the public's questions about our fraternity. Amazingly, the public,
thirteen years later, have the same questions. We must be prepared to give good
answers. We must give answers, which will encourage good men to desire to
be a part of our brotherhood
When visiting the lodge these days, you may
see activity downstairs. The building and grounds committee, headed by Brother
Greg Ray has begun the process of the installation and wiring of the separate
downstairs heating and air conditioning. Offer them words of encouragement when
you see them. The process will take some time. Remember, the only way to finish
something is to begin it!.
At our
June 9th meeting Brother Randy Williams turned in over a hundred dollars from
the sale of aluminum cans. Also at the June 9th meeting, we passed two
"Resolutions of Respect" to be presented to the families of two of
our departed brothers. Brother J.W. Kelly was called home on June 1st and
Brother Earl Weaver on June 6th. Our sympathy to both of these families.
Brother Monty Smothers reported that August
23rd is the date for our lodge reunion. The location was not firmed up but most
likely will be at an area park. We will soon be making preparations for our
annual past Masters dinner. Every past Master will receive a separate personal
invitation and an RSVP will be requested. Plans are to have this event on
Saturday evening, separate from a stated communication. More soon. Good work
has been done and there is plenty more to do. Thank you for allowing me to
serve as your 2003 Master and thank you for your individual participation.
FRATERNALLY,
RONNIE
