February 2003 Newsletter

Words from the East......

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Master in 2003.  I'm both honored and excited about all the possibilities we have to further the mission of freemasonry in the Garner area.  I want to especially thank all those who participated in the installation on January 11th.  This list includes the installing officers, family members and members of the Eastern Star.

Our stated communication on January 13th began with a delicious spaghetti dinner with "fixings" prepared by Junior Deacon Randy Williams and the Williams family, assisted by Greg Ray, Barry Tucker and Ken Hartman.  Good food and fellowship was enjoyed by all.  It appears that we have a new "chef's crew".

The Lodge was opened at 7:30.   Worshipful Brothers Jimmy Stevens and Roy Harris installed Brother Barry Tucker as Senior Steward.

Following a very thorough discussion, the Lodge agreed to have both a spring and a fall fund raiser for the charities.  We will continue with the fall auction on September 13th and add a Golf Tournament in late April or early May.  Brother Barry Tucker will chair the tournament.  You will hear more as time goes on.

The Lodge also voted to continue the meals on the first meeting of the month.  Our next meal night will be on February 10th.  It will be our traditional Valentine Steak and Lobster fundraiser.  Cost is $20.00 a couple.  In the past we have raised $700.00-$800.00 for the charities.  Please mark your calendar and bring your sweetheart out for a night of good food and fellowship.

    A few reminders:

  1. A new yearbook directory is available.  See Secretary, Brother John Tawney if you would like to have one.
  2. The Traveling gravel is just down the road at Vandora 745 and is up for the taking. They meet on February 6th.

I was especially glad to see Brother Tommy Baucom at our stated communication.  I look forward to seeing him again real soon.

We had a good first meeting.  There are several other new and exciting things on the way.  I am proud to be your Master.

                                                                                    Fraternally yours,

                                                                                    Ronnie Williams
