October 2003 Newletter Garner Lodge 701
Brethren,
Hello, again from the
East.......Good things to report since our last newsletter. The September 8th
meeting had good attendance, preceded by a delicious meal. The lodge was opened
and business transacted. We had one guest, Worshipful Brother C.L. Parker from
Vandora 745. It was also a real treat to see Worshipful Brother Delmas Williams
back in attendance the first time since his surgery. Two petitions for the
degrees were read and that process has begun. Hopefully, we will have one more
shortly. We spent time reviewing the proposed code amendments again. The
delegates were given good direction on how to vote. The lodge passed a
resolution of support for Bill and Helen Pickett to go to MESH. Worshipful
Brothers Roy Harris and Jimmy Stevens were presented "Master's
Awards" for their contributions. The treasurer reported that approximately
$4100 has been raised for our charities to date. The Charity Auction on
September 13th added approximately $3000 to that amount, while that amount is
not the "official" amount as the monies are still being calculated at
this writing. Congratulations are in order to Brothers Randy Williams, Jim
Talaska and Ken Hartman, as well as Worshipful Brother Bill Tapp and several
others for a job well done on the auction. A special thank you to those who
sponsored tables and all who attended and participated in this successful
fundraiser..........In closing let me encourage all to ATTEND BLUE LODGE. We
should be doing degree work the second meeting in October. It has been a while,
but degree work always seems to rejuvenate many of us. Thank you for letting me
serve as your Master.
FRATERNALLY,
RONNIE WILLIAMS
